New Media highly support creativity, by giving the chance to people all over the world to collaborate and come together with creative ideas. The new media platforms offer a space for creators, artists, designers, musicians, and many more to meet with one another virtually and contribute to each other's work which results in some great things happening and amazing productions.
Few examples are how DJs, musicians, singers, and artists come together with great productions, doctors and scientists sharing each other's opinions and studies, scientists discussing new researches and new innovations anfd sharing with one another.
A singer can post his acapella asking for collaboration with instrument players and DJs, then musicians get back to him/her with their input and work together virtually to produce new sounds including covers and mashups as well as new productions. I personally recall how Jay z took an old Arabic song by Abdel Halim Hafez from Egypt in the 50s and produces a hit track. That would have not been possible if it weren't for the availability and easy access to Global cultures and information all over the world.
In "the new math of mashups" by Sasha Frere- Jones we read on how a Dj used a digital platform to isolate the instrumental elements from the voice in an old song and used that technology to surf amongst many different acapella and songs to add them to the instrumental elements. At last, he found the perfect song to match with the old instrumental elements which he separated and produced what is called a "mashup".
Now the DJ has managed to synch two completely different songs together and have the music and the lyrics go together in harmony and still please the audience, and that is creative in every way possible. That continues to show how users can engage and use virtual worlds and new media platforms in a creative way.
