P2P

There is no doubt that technology and the internet have changed our lives and made things a lot easier, specifically file sharing. File sharing is the activity of transmitting and sharing files from one device (a computer or a phone) to another over a network or the internet.

Starting with infrared to Bluetooth, and then Airdrop, File sharing provides wireless access to digital files from one device to another. Peer to Peer file sharing (P2P) is a network technology that gives users access to media files located on other computers or devices than their's and allows users to share, swap, and download all types of media files (music, games, movies, videos, books, and any other digital content).

Some examples of P2P programs include Utorrent, software program where users can download files specifically movies from other users' computers remotely. Another example is Limewire which was known for sharing and downloading music.

As stated in the NPR article (Peers Find Less Pressure Borrowing From Each Other) on the internet has disrupted all industries, the functionality of P2P  has even reached the financial industry. Lending Club is a peer to peer services connecting borrowers and lenders outside the bank environment, the company is a huge success and Google has teamed up with them to expand.
